Invited by Park Poétik summer festival organised by the municipalities of St Gilles and Forest, co-produced by the WIELS, Centre for Contemporary Art in Brussels, Belgium, with the assistance of Dounia Mojahid, the two Blue Street Pantone performances took place in Forest at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on 9 August 2025.
The choreographed walk starts at the intersection of Chaussée d’Alsemberg and Avenue Albert / Besme, home to the Albert metro station square. The turquoise veil, chosen to echo the festival’s historic graphic charter and its cloud logo, hangs like a curtain under the large overhang of the CENTR’AL sports complex that dominates the square and closes off the cubic volume in the public space in front of the entrance, encompassing the stairs but open at the rear for pedestrian circulation. A long improvised dance performance on this crossroads square teases even the customers of the Bar du Matin terrace. The veil is dismantled in full view and the audience rushes under the trees of the central reservation of Avenue Besme.
The Fountain of the Three Nymphs with their elegant poses, and the small amphitheatre on Albert Markt square opposite the park, are home to the second installation. The choreography magnifies the voluptuousness of the drapery, the circle, bodies’ curves and the energy of the water. The veil, rolled up into a ball, is then furiously unrolled under the tall pine trees at the entrance to the wood. Then the audience unfurls the large blue river and tries out different actions, stops, waves, zigzags, rest/siesta/lunch on the grass, races/accelerations, which will be performed before the eyes of the unsuspecting audience, sitting in the rays of the setting sun in the large meadow of Forest Park. The character, transformed in zentaï suit, dances among the groups of onlookers scattered on the grass, then carries the veil to its final installation, a floating comet between two distant branches, one low and horizontal, the other very high, reached thanks to the throw of a small bag by a local tree surgeon. Then collective dance floor under the canopy !
Solo – 60 min / Musics : Rhapsody in Blue, George Gershwin – Ay Dilbert !, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh – Song of Whales, Laboreal – 524 Hz, Laboreal – In Stitches, The Bad Plus – Beginn’, Måneskin. Photos : Gilles Viandier & Dounia Mojahid. Thanks to the volunteers of the festival’s friendly team.
